Caroline Heron has been with MiniBarLabs part-time since 2011 as Head of Events. Established in 2006, MiniBarLabs is an innovation agency specialising in bridging the gap between agile tech start ups and big companies. In addition to running one of the UK’s largest and longest running tech community Meetup, MiniBar, MiniBarLabs also run innovation programmes, developer outreach programmes and short courses.
Caroline has a background in digital strategy, particularly in relation to how small cultural organisations employ digital technologies in the production, management and distribution of their activities. When working for Mute Magazine, she helped to set up and run the Art of Digital London (AoDL) Meetup – a research and events programme that examined how cultural organisations respond to the prevalence of digital technologies. In 2013 she left Mute to found Video in Common, an arts video production company and YouTube Channel. In her short presentation, Caroline will trace the progress of MiniBarLabs and examine the evolution of start up culture in London, showing how it has come to impact the development of new products and services across sectors.
